Forest school

Welcome to Forest School

In partnership with St. Peter in the Forest RBF are excited to offer tailored forest school sessions for your school or family.

At Forest School we love to see children learn new skills as they explore their suroundings through a mix of exciting woodland activities of their choosing.

In every session at Forest School the children take the lead as they show us what they want to learn and experience in each session. Our Forest School leaders offer guidance and help the children to manage risks as they play, create, climb tree, build dens or learn bushcraft skills.

For details on how sessions run, what to bring and how we keep it safe check out our prospectus!

Schools sessions

Our schools sessions are specifically designed to compliment the learning of your pupils through a number of activities which encourage spontaneity, creativity and free expression. Each session is led by our experienced forest school practitioners as you class is guided though a vast array of activities.

After the first session the children are encouraged to guide the planning of their time at Forest School as they have input into the term planner of which activities they particularly enjoy.

Family sessions

Our Family sessions are designed to equip you as parents and carers to explore nature and take fun yet safe risks as you build dens, climb trees and make fires along with many more fun activities!

At the start of the session we walk to Base Camp where Forest School rules and safety is discussed. There will be an icebreaker listening challenge and the activities planned for that session will be introduced before you join in with your children as they take the lead.

Each session is overseen by a forest school practitioner to support you and your family to explore and engage with the nature around you.

Youth Group sessions

No matter your age, hanging out in the forest, climbing trees and building dens will always be brilliant fun! For youth groups in particular we run sessions that will allow your young people to learn new skills (and discover ones they didn't know they had!) all in the beautiful setting of Epping forest.

Whether your group are looking to learn some bushcraft skills or have some great conversations round the fire pit our sessions are flexible and will be designed around your young people letting them take the lead.
