ACTIVITIES IN ONGAR

RBF runs a wide variety of activities for children, young people and families throughout the year across Essex, Hertfordshire and Greater London. We are delighted to be working with a number of partners to develop new work in and around Ongar in 2020/21...

Children Playing

CHRISTMAS 2020

Having great fun and positive things to do is an important part of everyone's school holiday experience, and RBF are committed to working with our partner organisations to offer a wide variety of activities during the school holidays.

RBF school holiday activities benefit from the fact that they are part of a much wider group of projects for children and young people led by the charity, so we have access to trained, skilled practitioners in a wide variety of fields whose talents can be shared with the children who take part.

During the Christmas Holiday in 2020, we were hoping to deliver a full programme of activities for children funded by our partners at Active Essex but unfortunately due to the imposition of the new Tier 4 restrictions we are no longer able to do so.

If your family have been financially adversely affected by the COVID19 crisis and/or normally receive free school meals and would like a Christmas food & fun art and craft activity pack, please email resource@rbf.org.uk and we will do our best to get one to you.

School Children

COVID19

Washing Hands

RBF has been involved in delivering services to families throughout the lockdown period, including caring for keyworker children, detached work with young people on the streets and much more. As such, we are well practised at running COVID Secure settings and you can be certain we will do our utmost to comply with all guidance and best practice, including:

  • Keeping children in 'bubbles' (currently of 15);

  • Practising social distancing wherever possible;

  • Regular handwashing/santising;

  • Enhanced cleaning procedures for all equipment;

  • Avoiding activities like singing which has been proven to potentially be a mechanism where COVDI19 can be spread;

  • Moving activities outdoors where space/weather permits.

Finally, we would remind all parents/carers that if their child, anyone in the child's household or social bubble develops any of the COVID19 symptoms they must not attend any activities they have booked for and must inform RBF of the results of their COVID19 test.

TIMINGS & REGISTRATION

Please note that the activities listed below are no longer able to take place due to the new Tier 4 restrictions

We are delighted to be working with Ongar Primary School (Milton Crescent, Ongar, CM5 0FF) who will be hosting our activities from 21st to 23rd December. Entrance to the site will be from the doors directly onto Milton Crescent rather than from the school car park.

We can confirm though that the session times are as follows:

No sessions available

In order to keep bubbles as consistent as possible and prevent the chance of infection, we ask that families where possible sign up for all three mornings or all three afternoons. If you require less sessions, please indicate this on your registration form.

ACTIVITIES

Each two hour session is designed for children or young people aged 4 to 12 (Year R to Year 8) to enjoy:

- Christmas themed art and craft activities (including making Christmas slime!);

- Fun physical activities that get them active and moving;

- A healthy meal that they help to create themselves

At the end of the final session each family attends, one of their children will be sent home with a healthy goody bag (with some Christmas treats...!) to help support the family through the rest of the school holiday period.

PICKUP/DROPOFF

To minimise the risk of transmission of COVID19, we request that all families ensure that they socially distance from one another while waiting to drop off or collect, observing any floor markings or signage. Please note that if you have not pre-booked you may be turned away if the session is full, so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

SIGN US UP!

Please note that face to face activities have been suspended due to Tier 4 restrictions.

If your family has been financially adversely affected by the COVID19 outbreak and/or normally receives free school meals, please contact resource@rbf.org.uk and we will do our best to get a Christmas food and activity pack delivered to you!

STAFFING

Depending on numbers of children attending each session, the activities will always have two or more RBF staff members/volunteers in attendance. Our staff hold all of the relevant qualifications/experience to provide children's and youth activities and are part of a wider team who deliver hundreds of hours of children’s work every week, and will be supported by team members from our partner agencies who have similar levels of experience.

POLICIES

RBF have a full set of policies and procedures around Safeguarding of Children, Health & Safety, etc., that are all tried and tested as we work with thousands of children every year. We hold full Public Liability Insurance up to £10,000,000. Parents/carers who secure a place at the Club will be given access to our policy pack on request.
